Like riding a bike...a chocolate...bike...

Today I worked my first day back at my wonderful chocolate job. And it felt GOOD!

I'm still working my casual graphic design job until Christmas but there are...issues. Anyway, I've decided not to go back next year (because it would have only been for 2 weeks anyway) so I talked to my big boss from Melbourne and my manager and they were both pretty ecstatic to have me back, especially just before Christmas. So I'm working two jobs for the next three weeks. Part of me is kind of annoyed at my self because I could have just cruised easy until Christmas and done LOTS of drawing, but most of me is feeling very motivated by being so busy (and looking forward to the extra money)

Hopefully Canberra will clear out before Christmas like it did last year and the shop will be nice and quiet. Though if today was any indication it looks like it's going to be pretty flat out.

Hello my pretties!

Ok, so I know I disappeared off the face of the earth for a few weeks there but the good news is I'm now done and dusted. Final exhibition was awesome, though I don't remember the last half of it due to the three bottles of champagne my friends and I escaped with. Handed in my last project, my portfolio, my images for drawing class and I'm DONE~! (Well, I'll know for sure next week when I get grades back). Check it out, I can market myself as a graphic designer now.

To celebrate, my buddy ~nynn and I went to Melbourne to visit ~Kayje and see Wicked. Which was, pardon the pun, absolutely WICKED. Seriously, one of the best musicals I've seen, and I've seen a lot of musicals. Probably helped by the fact that I thought Fiyero (Rob Mills) was teh hotness, but Amanda Harrison has an absolutely stunning voice. I'd even say the Australian cast are better singers on the whole than the Broadway cast (judging from the cd). Expect fanart - I'm quite quite obsessed.

Life Lessons

Today I learnt another of life's important lessons.

How to shuck an oyster.

My housemate and I picked up some oysters from the farmer's markets this morning, but they were the kind still entirely in their shells. We weren't going to get any, but the lovely man selling them taught us how to open them so we took them home and had them for breakfast. It was awesome.

Now all I need to learn is how to change a tyre and I'll be set for life!

I only have 2 more days of uni left ever (O_o) and my HUGE portfolio is due in a week and a half. I'm freaking out big time. Life without studying is going to reaaaaaaally weird.

B*tch

Wow. That's the first time someone's ever insulted me to my face about my art. Ouch.

Today we were doing "interim submissions" of our portfolios - our last project before we graduate so pretty big deal. Everyone has their portfolios in pieces while we try to rework stuff and lay everything out all pretty. Today was interim number 2 of 3, and we still have 4 weeks til the portfolio's due.

Now, to set the background - my tutor for today's class is the head of the department, and an opininated bitch. But I thought I'd gotten on her good side because she's loved all my work recently.

It started with me handing her 20 odd a4 pages. She looks as me "You know the portfolio's meant to be a3?" I'm like, "Yes, but a. I'm running out of ink, b. think of the trees, and c. I'm not forking out 40 bucks to print a3 for an interim submission." She immediately starts arguing with me about how I should fork out the money because if I wait til the final submission to print a3 it'll just look crap, but you know, it's up to me if I want to fail. So straight away, I'm on the back foot. And the thing with this tutor, if you say ANYTHING she finds the tiniest bit argumentative or a strike against her course she will rip you to pieces in front of the entire class.

Which is what she did to me. Goody. And of course, the thing she picked on most would be the thing I'm most sensative about - my manga drawings. Basically told me I was shit at drawing even though I got a decent mark for the original project and that all my layouts were awful. When I pointed out half the pages were from my original portfolio for last semester and the other tutor had said they were good (the other tutor who runs THE top design studio in canberra) she just said "Yes, well I don't like it so it doesn't matter what he said."

Seriously. What. The. Hell.

On a slightly lighter note - I've reached 10,000 hits. Yay! Ok, so I was too vague to organise anything for it, but I will draw something eventually. ...when I feel a bit better about my art... :(

Yeah, it's about as thin as paper money, just made of plastic. The $5 note is a little bit smaller than the rest, but they're all about the size of American money

its not hard plastic money *MokubaLover Its soft polymer. Just like paper, but it doesn't turn to much in the wash.
